Central to Philip Weiss Tornes’ work is questioning various relationships and hierarchies that govern our perception of reality. Through exploring and reinterpreting constructed dichotomies like mind/body, rationality/irrationality and biology/technology his aim is to suggest that there is an arbitrary element at the core of any world-view. To paraphrase the early 20th century British geneticist J.B.S. Haldane: My suspicion is that the universe is not only stranger than we suppose, but stranger than we can suppose.
