Collagenic Architecture
2014
3D visualisations, architectural model
Dimensions variable

This work parallels our treatment of architecture with our treatment of the body. Aged and decrepit buildings are 'injected' in order to make them seen as desirable again. Drawing from the new plasticity of the body and the nature of collagen injections that imitate the appearance of immortality, this work manipulates the skin of the site, rendering it extinct but immortal. The new facade is created in an amber resin that fossilizes the building beneath, while projecting a more desirable architectural form. The site becomes a frozen moment in time, an artefact, a representation of desire.
