Kinesics is the study and interpretation of body motion communication or more commonly known as 'body language'. Slade Butler’s work explores the nonverbal and subconscious nervous behaviour that individuals express when subjected to a new environment with no distractions. With only the camera and himself, the artist, present he documented six subjects and analysed each to draw out similarities and discover a gesture that was distinctive and individual to each subject, whether that be rubbing their eye or biting a lip.
