The insect image in culture appears in roles of Otherness: as mutants, as monsters, as aliens, as social minorities and most often, as threats. Their physical being evolves rapidly compared to our own species and adapts quickly to the changes in our environment. Their miniature world is unfamiliar to our own – yet overlap in the same spaces. The insect is under constant transformation in the real world and in fiction. The insect is alien.
