This work is based on Justin Xiao’s HIV antiretroviral treatment taken since 2011. It’s a visualisation through scale and quantity of the medication needed to survive the average human lifespan.
Justin intends to reveal both the obvious and invisible issues in his work. The pill displays the entire volume of medication consumed on a daily basis, while the plastic bottles represent the total number of containers over a lifetime.
It’s a reflection of an HIV patient’s life when we are not yet looking at the stigmas against this epidemic, but also the physical commitment one needs in order to live.
