Inspired by the Neo-Impressionists, Belinda Chiu’s work attempts to compose ‘a vibrant painting’ using reflected colours, motion and sound. The kinetic sound sculpture blurs the boundaries of the visual and aural, connecting the spatial with the temporal. Underpinned by the relationship between vibrations and air currents generated by human activities, the work aims to engage with viewers using wind and sound as the elements that help them understand their environmental context. With the immersive and entrancing effects of shimmering metal, Belinda’s work suggests the possibility of using art experience to meditate and achieve inner peace.
