Phantom Pain
2014
35mm film photography
5x A1 prints, 1 x A6 print

Both excruciating and confusing at times, Phantom Pain is the sensation that an amputated limb is still attached to the body. Health professionals believe it to be the brains attempt to recognise nerve messages that would have once helped with the functioning of that particular limb. The pain and discomfort caused by Phantom Pain has been known to lead to depression and other illnesses. Using demolition sites as an analogy to Phantom Pain, this collection of 35m B&W photographs help to explore the relatable characteristics of what it feels like to have something so important suddenly stripped away.
