Kate Darmody is an emerging artist based in Sydney. Kate’s work is motivated by an enduring interest in the human experience and behaviours. Frequently drawing on deeply personal experiences and eclectic aesthetics, her work becomes a meditative process through which resolutions to intimate queries are met. Explorative approaches are utilised whilst themes of nostalgia, family, culture, behaviour and displacement arise. Darmody creates conceptual and aesthetic tensions through painterly practices, which influence her installation work. She seeks to invoke dialogue and thought about universal experiences. Kate has recently returned from China, where she participated in the exhibition, Displacement, TianJin.
