Through the exploration of gesture, form and colour Syrmathenia Nicolakis creates a pure abstract vision that embodies the emotional landscape the artist is wandering through. Produced by an inner need springing from Syrmathenia’s soul, the artworks reflect the gestalt of complex emotions which cannot be conveyed through a figurative formal vocabulary. Syrmathenia draws upon deeper and more varied levels of meaning focusing on understanding what goes beyond existence - merging the form with the formless, the artist is the conduit by which this gets transmitted onto the canvas.
