Boys and Girls Come Out to Play is a body of work that is a celebration of childhood. The series of works attempts to immortalise the freedoms we possess in a moment. Through the depiction of young children, Isabella documents her observations of the desired freedoms we all held, when we were young.
In her works, the stitched line, painting and printing translate Isabella’s drawings onto the surface. The images lie beneath a tactile haze of hanging coloured threads. She uses materials, naive symbolism of children at play and Dr Seuss quotes to initiate emotive responses from the viewer.
