Kazu Nouchi Quill’s work is a reflection of an ongoing exploration of ‘process’ within Kazu’s art practice. Taking on a tactile and spontaneous approach to object making, this practice centres on a process of cultural, material and spatial exploration.
Being half Japanese, Kazu’s material choices are influenced by an ongoing examination of traditional Japanese aesthetics. Through situating this practice within the studio space, the artist wants to highlight the process behind the finished product as well as exploring the relationship between art objects and the space they are created within.
