Hedgehog's Dilemma
2014
Oil painting

Hedgehog's Dilemma is a psychological analogy used against people challenged by human intimacy. This term was discovered from an examination of a group of hedgehogs all seeking heat during cold weather. Unlike other animals grouping together to keep each other warm, hedgehogs keep their distance in order to avoid hurting one another with their quills. Through the study of hedgehogs, philosophers suggest that despite good will, there will always be a substantial mutual harm which forces people to create a level of invisible barrier. It is believed that everyone has this invisible but natural negative habit that they perform everyday.
