This series of sculptures represent Ethel-Anne Gundy when she was first put into an institution. Ethel-Anne was taken away from her biological family as a young girl. She thinks as part of the removal policies. The Welfare Board has told her lies ever since. Sometimes Ethel-Anne has felt she is imprisoned in her own mind, as she has tried to come to terms with what happened. It’s been a journey with a lot of detours. The inanimate wooden figures are Ellen-Anne at these crucial times. Her art has always been with her and now she knows it is part of her healing.
