Frustrated Catharsis
2014
Mixed media installation and performance
230cm x 300cm x 280 cm

Frustrated catharsis incorporates a body of work utilising sculpture, video and live performance. The work involves autobiographical elements that are distributed amongst varying performative aspects, in particular, emotions dealing with frustration. By directing personal frustrations into the public forum the artist is able to attempt to purge himself and achieve a form of catharsis; a discourse that translates negative emotions into positive. However this catharsis is always left incomplete, an unrealised expression that is internalised and literally left frustrated. The aim of the work is to negotiate this unfinished dialogue and the landscape in which it inhabits.
