Structured Speculations examines the process of extracting colour from plant materials, a method used in traditional forms of dyeing. The work explores the presence of wonder, imagination and poetry within scientific inquiry. A series of experiments were designed to explore the extraction process, which has long been a source of wonder for Sophie Kingsford-Smith.
What occurs during this process? What transformations take place? And what will be revealed?
