The Veiling
2014
Tulle, wire, assembled objects, video and light installation
220cm x 250cm x 125cm

The Veiling presents a metaphorical space exploring the issue of detention for displaced people. The bed, as the central object of the work, expresses a place of rest and security. However these notions are challenged by the textual impact of the pillow and the vulnerability of the space as viewed through the transparent shroud. The physical barrier of the shroud defines a space that is inaccessible to the outside viewer, which finds a parallel in the isolation, lack of disclosure and concealment of detainees. Indefinite time and its distortion are also themes in this work.
