Surrender engages with the ritual of painting on the surface of water, where through flow visualisation and surrender to autopoietic forces, the meditative art of 'letting go' is realised. Guided by principles of balance and purity, Elise Heléne Magri’s work reflects upon the spiritual and practical nature of water as the element of change. By intermittently governing the 'push and pull' of elements at play, she has centered her emphasis on the formative boundaries of colour, preserving integrity of hue and saturation by setting centrifugal pigment compositions within perishable molten liquid casts, by which the ephemeral nature of the work is realised.
