Sonia Ramia’s work comprises of a series of wearables, embellished with beads. These accessories revolve around the extreme lengths that certain individuals go to, to adorn themselves. The chosen items draw emphasis onto certain parts of the body that one would normally wish the least amount of attention to be drawn to. The head, shoulders, hands and feet aren’t features that an individual normally accentuates or emphasises. There is a strong sense of value and worth when viewing these objects, the irony is that the materials used to create them, are in fact inexpensive.
