As a multi-disciplined artist, working predominantly on paper, Amanda Farquharson has been exploring historical elements of landscape and searching for the aesthetic from urban Sydney and the east coast to Far West NSW.
Working with discarded objects, local clay and ochres, plant matter and mixed media, combined with found feathers and collected shards of culture to weave a body of works that conceptualise landscape and its hidden histories. Amanda seeks the aesthetic in refuse, composing a visual record of culture through discards.
It describes the variations and similarities between European and Australian historic and contemporary cultures.
