There is a playful intrigue and humour within the aesthetics and conventions of cartoons that Lewis Doherty really responds to. For his work for the 2014 Annual he created his own cartoon characters; here physically realised in neon light, to muse upon these qualities and to interact with similarly playful real-world objects within his installation.
