A visual exploration of the dichotomies that define the human experience of the world through the lens of technology and sexuality. Inspired by artists who explore bodily boundaries, hybridization and cyborgification such as Stelarc, Orlan, H.R Giger and Del Kathryn Barton, Julius Macefield’s work examines the complicated interplays between what are construed as opposing categories in every facet of human life. Drawing on aspects of both biotechnology and pornography the work combines the language of the erotic and the grotesque, into renderings of a world in which all boundaries have collapsed.
