A few years ago Natasha Pitkanen’s grandfather succumbed to a form of dementia and her grandmother, who would always laugh and joke about him being the bane of her highflying lifestyle, suddenly realised she couldn’t bear to be without him. Having discovered a newfound patience for each other they happily sit in comfortable silence, it’s a beautiful thing to be on the outside looking in.
