2014
Oil on canvas
113cm x 143cm

Qing Zhan’s artwork aims to channel the marriage of the classical positions defining Neoclassicism painting from the 17th to the 19th Century and modern couture. Qing mashes traditional oil painting, an interest in contemporary fashion and a respect for the classical representations of beauty.
The artist’s practice evidences respect and curiosity for Western positions around the nude figure from the Renaissance onwards. Qing contemporises these by clothing the nude figures in contemporary high fashion from designers such as Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood.
