Kate Yurkovic’s work focuses on the theme of transformation. While Kate is transforming her materials from their intended use via a multimedia collaging process, she assigns new meaning by association and approximation. These works are a time stamp; created through the cataloguing and composition of seemingly random elements, found primarily within the Sydney metropolitan area. There is also an element of transparency - here used to express the purity of the clippings used within each work. This technique becomes a floating, ethereal sample of my surroundings. Describing and itemizing my locations becomes my own obsessive, cathartic expression of self-identity.
