Whilst amongst the ancient relics that scatter the city of Rome, Tristan Jensen became acutely aware of the inevitability of physical change. The evolution of time itself appeared to emanate from within these chalky, crumbling architectural forms, and spurred an obsession with the relationship between architecture, mythology and time. The symbol of the ancient ruin is a powerful one, and something that Tristan has exploited in his simultaneously hyper-real and illusionistic tableauxs.
Through the architectural forms depicted in his photographs, Tristan contemplates the evolution of time and the concept of the archetypal ruin; specifically the mythologies and ideologies that surround it.
